I'm going with Flomasters too, just not sure what series yet. They are local boys just north of us in Santa Rosa!
Sounds and looks good Steve..That will get the wheels turnin..the torque of a big block, hmm, nice.:D
Are tires cheap in your neighbourhood??:D
:3dSMILE:Thanks lamin8r. Yep need new tires next!
Don thanks, you've been an inspiration with the words of encouragement along the way.
I only started it for a few seconds. Next is cam break in and then fine tuning, to get it on the road!:3dSMILE:
Hooooraaay!
Thanks Bob and Alan. It is a work in progress, but soon it will be nice to drive it into the garage vs. pushing it over the 1/2 inch bump at the garage threshold! I was so jazzed about it starting that when I went to push it back into the garage I forgot it was still in park with the emergency brake on.:LOL::LOL:
I'll try posting the link with a photo one more time

It's funny this forum sometimes allows imbedded video and sometimes it does wierd things with links, not sure why. Well at least the link seems to work.
Your motor sounds really healthy! Looks great, too. Looks like a road test is comin soon!
I actually called flowmaster and asked them. they asked questions about the truck, power, engine, headers etc. and how I wanted it to sound and then recommended those.
sounds really good, looks nice too, if your neighbors dont like it tell them i will trade them neighbors, i will listen to the 460 idle music all day and smile, i have a neighbor who brings home a 80,000 gvw wrecker every night and is on call so he comes and goes at all hours, every person here has called city hall and the cops, it is prohibited. commercial vehicle in residental area, the cops say call the city, the city says call the cops, this sucker has those 8 inch stacks, three sets of duals wheels about ten thousand lights on it with get this a jake brake, i hate to complain too much then the cops get on me oh well, if the neighbors complain,,, politely tell them it could be worse. then there is the guy with the $500 dollar car that has a five thousand dollar stereo, i wish i had a neighbor like you whom is conscious of others, no car people in my neighbor hood at all post more videos ihave read all about your truck and really like it enjoy the california weather it is 0 here or close to it oh here comes the tow truck
Thanks Simpsongreg 68. I'm partial to a big block v8 sound too. The neighbors actually make more noise than I do, but I try to keep my stuff to a minimum. For the most part we all get along!:D
You sure can't beat that first startup, sounds good :)
O.k today I broke in the cam per the long block manufacturers instructions with some sfr oil additive. I decided to check the timing and saw it was at 50 degrees, but sounded great. The cam card said it should be -5 degrees. Now when I installed the distributor, it is an aftermarket Mallory Comp 9000 unilite with mechanical advance. I followed the wiring schematic, amd installed the distributor with the rotor pointed back at number 1 while the crank was at top dead center on the compression stroke for number one. Not sure why I would get such a wierd number on the timing if things are wiried right and running well. Any thoughts? Trying to lower it to minus 5 made it want to stall.:HMMM:
I should add this is a early 70's presmog 460 engine, with DOVE C heads.
Hate to ask the obvious, but you sure you're on #1 with the light??????
