Just align the dots on the cam and crank gear, put the engine back together and time the engine to spec.... Good plan using the early gears as the later model engines had the cam retarded in the engine....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

You will notice a nice seat of the pants kick with that new gear and chainset. Easy installation though don't forget the fuel pump eccentric and oil slinger.
Denny -I still don't know why you advocate pulling the motor. He figured out the pan and the timing set change out is easy once the water pump is off and a heluva lot easier then pulling the engine and risking breaking exhaust manifold to pipe bolts or even manifolds, drizzling transmission oil, power steering fluid and even dumping gas just to name a few aches and pains. A '70's Ford P/U has lots of room to work to even change out bearings once the pan is off
