Unfortunately with a 460 in a Ford pick up, you have to jack the engine off of the motor mounts about 2" as the front sump wont clear the cross member ( I had both a '76 F250 and a '79 F350 with 460s) - and the job isn't all that bad if you have the right tools - a long stroke/arm jack and 2 blocks of wood.

Pulling the engine for that - nahhhh - that is unless you wanted to do more work on it while it's apart. What happened - your pan rust out like my F350? They all will eventually
