D1VE blocks were utilized in production from 1971-1978. The are all basically the same and can support gobs of horsepower.

All Ford 429/460 blocks are 385 Series engines.

Actual casting date code is in the lifter valley and is alphanumeric.

Thank you for your reply. I have read other threads, but wanted to be sure. I have never rebuilt a motor before....this will be my first. Still learning. Thanks again
