    1971 ford Ltd 429 Whats Dove C

     



    Hi i was looking for a 460 and i thing i found a 429. Below the valve cover it sya DOVE C and thats it? or could any boby tell me how to find out what i found? Thanks John

    DOVE C is the casting number for the head, they are a reasonably good head as far as factory cast iron heads go....... The casting number on that block is (I think) above the starter.

    Yeah, like Dave said, the D0VE-C heads are some of the best of the production cast iron heads. Have some porting work done on the exhaust side to maximize them.

    Based on the year of the car, I'll bet it has D0VE-C heads and a D1VE-A2B block. Great parts for building a nice motor, 429 or 460.

    The block casting number is located behind the starter motor and reads vertically

    You have dove c on 460 also with it being in a 71 ltd I would bet it is a 429 though, Look at the numbers on the side of the block and then decode those and it will tell you what block you have. The 460 will make more tq and the 429 revs quicker.
