1 C9VE-A head and
1 C8VE-E head....

All the info I have read said these 2 heads are identical

Did I mess up as bad as I feel I did or am I still in good shape

still got a good deal as far as price is concerned as all the machine work was already done and i got a C6 tranny with torque converter...
The C8VE head and C9VE head are absolutely interchangable, so you may bolt those heads on the same block.

If the crankshaft has a fresh .030 undersize then it's fine and ought to last 100000 miles with new bearings, etc.

Sounds like you git yourself a rebuilt motor that you simply need to assemble.
