    429 distributor cap firing order

I am putting on a new dist. cap and wires and plugs on my 1972 429. I found the firing order on-line, but how do I figure out the order on the dist. cap? All I really need is to know how to find the #1 plug on the cap? When whomever painted the motor prior to my purchasing it, they did not put the wires back on correctly, or this would be easy. The motor is out of the car and on a dolley, so I can't crank it over to figure it out the hard way. Thanks a bunch.

#1 can be wherever you want it to be. Turn the crank until both valves are closed on #1 (front, passenger side) and the damper comes up on TDC. Run the plug wire from #1 cylinder to the terminal closest to the rotor tip, then just follow the firing order from there on around the cap.
