Flathead assembly finally starting
I'm finally in the process of building an 8BA Flathead for my 42 Ford Truck. I just got the block back from the machine shop and started the valve train assembly.
I found a good set of original Johnson lifters that I had reconditioned and I picked up a set of original valves from Red's Vintage Parts. I didn't get as far as I wanted but they've been gapped to .014".
The cam that was installed is a Max-1 grind I had done locally. I found a 4" Merc crank last Friday for $300. Even though they guy said it was magged I took it in anyways to have it checked.
I'll have the valve train finished this weekend and in about 3 weeks I should have the rotating assembly back from being balanced.
