Canada has always had Mercury cars. The Monarch was the Ford division's answer to the Mercury, and the Meteor was the Mercury division's answer to the Ford.

In case your brother might be interested, I happen to know where there is a 53 Mercury pickup in Ontario, which is probably for sale pretty cheap. I don't know what condition it is in, as I only saw it for a couple of minutes 7 or 8 years ago, and I doubt that it has moved an inch since:-)
