Ford engines in 1940 had a displacement of 221 while Merc was 239. HP for ford was 85 and Merc was 95. HP was raised in 41 to 90 for ford and 100 for merc. Colors were dark green thru 40 for both ford and merc. Ford kept the green color to 1942. Merc engines were painted dark blue from 41-48.

Ford did have a truck engine from 1948-1951 that was painted red and put out 100HP.
