That tube that encloses the drive shaft is called a torque tube.

At the end of the transmission and the start of the torque tube is a bell shaped connector, should have four bolts or studs. Undo those, and if you pull the trans (and engine if still attached) it will slide forward. I don't recall if your year has the same "strut" rods on the side of the trans bell housing to the frame as the earlier models, but if they're there, make sure you undo those as well.
