Insofar as is possible...I'll go with the flow.

Back to the 50's would be awesome! I haven't nade it there yet but am sure going to try this year. Another good one may be the Cruise to the Woods in Ft. Dodge Iowa. Any of you guys go to it? It's usually the first weekend in October and they have over 1200 cars and trucks each year. Next year is their 30th anniversary and it's going to be a 3 day event. What about Car Craft Super Nats in MN? I'm just throwing ideas out here..........

Here is a suggestion based upon observation.....everyone is "voting" for a meeting that is close to their home base (at least within a couple of hundred miles). Holding a get-together in New York will be great for the Northeast guys but impossible for the Southwest folks and vice versa. In these times, it will be tough for most to shell out several thousand dead presidents for a weekend trip....momma aint gonna approve.
Taking a cue from the large car organizations (like the Early Ford V8 Club), it might be more prudent to hold a series of REGIONAL get-togethers so there is a meet that is reasonable for everyone to attend. The logical solution is to piggyback onto the GoodGuys events (or the NSRA events or both). That way, IF only one or two persons showed up, they wouldnt spend the weekend bored...they could look at hot rods. Then, if there proved sufficient participation, a NATIONAL event could be coordinated and held in some later year. So, the first year would be regional meets held at the same time as some hot rod event.....this is similar to the SEMA show....several of us email and touch base at the show.

Also have to consider highway as well as airport access. Some will drive a vehicle, then others may choose to fly in to the area. For instance, if a group get together was held near me - ya just can't seem to get here from there on a plane without a change (or two) somewhere
Been giving this one some thought... Good idea Jerry, IMO the Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield would just about have to be the ultimate place for a bunch of old gearheads to get together, wouldn't it???? Lots of travel time for most of us, but lots to do and see when we get there!!!!!!!Quote:

Bakersfield ----air travel has nice airport, LAX is about 120 miles south, LAS(vegas) somewhat east, past death valley, Mt Whitney, Edwards AF Base, Up north---Sacremento, Fresno, SFO, OAK,SJO---For International guys LAX or SFO---
West Coast travel is outside of my pocketbook and time constraints, so will bow out of further discussion if that's the way it is swinging

How about you guys checking some sample air fares from where ever you are to travel to some various main airports around the country? the prices vary so much that it might be as econmoical to fly all the way across country as part way!!!!!!!!!!! then possibly some locals in the area selected could help arrange some mass (rented van?) transit to the track and other local stuff??????????maybe group bookings at hotels??? Or---if Ob will loan me AF1 I'll fly around and pick you up and Marine 1,2,3,4,5 can ferry us to the track?????????
Hey I can't walk to Coal City , But we do have a lot of Nostalgia Drags put on about 3 times a year at some of the tracks . Union Grove , Byron and one more I cant remember . Now thats getting old LOL . Dated cars are usually pre 64 and a lot of gassers and others show up .

Hi guys....I know I dont get on this site very often lately, but I like the idea of a get together. For those that said fall would be the best time, I hear crusin the coast is a great rod run. I haven't been to it yet, but plan on it for sure in 2013. Here is the link: Cruisin' The Coast I have been camping in that area with my toy hauler and motorcycles and its a great area. Just a thought.
Regional meetings might work best, but heck we have a great local Salute to American Graffeti show every May, and are only 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean for those who'd like to drive Hyw 1 up and down the coast! Just sayin! :)
Anybody had any more thoughts on this?
We're looking to be in the USA around September 2013...so if anybody has something set in concrete we'll do our durndest to attend.

Depending on what part of September you're going to be here there should be a wide range of regional shows/events about any place you're planning to be. I don't want to divert this thread, so I'll PM you some information about my area.
