I had a Taurus and a Sable.....my tranny finally gave up after a hard start from a light......a friend who is a tranny man said they were weak to begin with and they should always have a quart more fluid than the dip stick calls for....not sure that is true.depends on the year I think

do you think it is safe bud to over fill the tranny like that? i am not much of a tranny person myself...so i am not sure either...but we all know what happens when you over fill the car with engine oil....but is there the same danger with a transmission?

I don't know about your car's trany. But on this old dodge I had did the same thing. I had a vacuum line that went to the trany, now where the line hooked up was a little diaphram. that's what the problem was on mine. I had to replace that diaphram, then all was well. I don't know about your trany though. Just a shot in the dark some times we get lucky.

Tranny is slipping or your detent is hanging up. Detent keeps the tranny in a lower gear longer or is what causes your car to downshift for passing. I'm not up on these newer trannies though as to whether they use a cable, solenoid or electronics to downshift. Just something else to look at before going through the tranny. Get you a book on the car or go to the library to see if you can find a trouble shooting guide on the tranny.
