For you or any others who encounter kick-back against the starter while using considerable initial ignition timing, you can use a momentary push-off switch mounted on the dash or column. Interrupt the feed wire to the coil with this switch. Depress the switch and spin the motor up with the starter, then release the switch to fire the motor.
