holley carb problem
just bolted my 3310 holley up to my engine and it started but pumped gas instantly out of one of those two angle cut tubes that stick straight up into the air cleaner. what do these do and why did it go old faithfull on me

QUESTION How do I adjust the fuel level on my carburetor?
ANSWER Setting the fuel level should be the first thing you do before attempting to make any further adjustments.The float level should put the fuel level just below the bottom of sight plug hole. You will make the adjustment with the vehicle on a level surface and the engine idling. You will first remove the sight plug, then to make your adjustment you will need to loosen the lock screw on the needle and seat. This will allow you to turn the adjusting nut to raise or lower the float level. Each hex flat on the nut will change the float level approximatly 1/32". When you have the fuel level just below sight plug hole you will then tighten the lock screw and reinstall the sight hole plug. Make sure you have a shop towel handy in case you have any fuel leaks from the Sight plug or needle and seat adjusting nut.

Could also be fuel pressure is way to high. What fuel pump are you using?Our race team page

Been there, done that lol.. only I did it on a 2300 Holley, basicly the same carb tho... I changed the float to a nitrophotyl float and didn't have it in correctly so the needle set open all the time. I had an electric fuel pump so I had a cool fountian..You don't know what you've got til it's gone

ok turns out needle was stuck, i cleaned it up and now its fine on the fountain issue. now it idles great and starts up good but has a nasty stumble right at wot and a lack of power, also it is a vac. secondary

its a qft adjustable vacuum setup, but i dont know how to adjust it i bought the carb used and replaced the main body and baseplate with the proform ported versions all the gaskets are new and it has good pump shot, also in free rev it has a stumble

its a vac secondary 3310 750 cfm proform mainbody and proform baseplate with a qft adjustable vacuum secondary, its on an automatic built 454 estimated at 530 hp, mechanical fuel pump regulated at 4psi.

Stumble at wot could be your pump cam . Fuel PSI seems low also should be like 7 PSI if I remember correctly.Last edited by BigTruckDriver; 04-16-2008 at 06:07 PM.

If it has a stumble at WOT it's the springs in the secondary. Holley makes a kit to tailor when the secondaries come in. The spring kit is available at Jeg's, Summit, and most auto part stores.Ken Thomas

it also stumbles when you free rev it in park and since there is no load to open the secondaries would that mean its something else
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
