One idea would be the fuel pressure regulator. Gauge it, check it well, strong indication that the reg has finally softened and let go.What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

Denny, the kids are in Oklahoma for the weekend and yes the AC system is low on charge. Must have had a geezer moment because for some reason I didn't connect the two. When they get back I'll put the gauges on it and bring it up to spec and that should solve the problem. Since they only have one vehicle I'll wait until the fall to leak test it and fix it properly. Thanks for your help.
