Advancing the cam gives more bottom end, I can't imagine a 500 Cad
needing more bottom end though. It also takes away from the top end.
Be sure to check valve to piston clearence each time you make a change.
It would depend alot on the weight of the vehicle.

Advancing /retarding the cam moves the power band up or down ,it can make more power or less depending on how close the intake valve closing point was to optimum.Changes the dynamic compression a little too.Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)
