how much vacuum do you have at idle ?here is the way i do it to check the set up springs if they are working rigth. there is caps on top of the carbs two with one very small screws on one side of them. the caps they are flat and small. this is were the set up springs are .DO THIS WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF back out the screws and move the cap 1/2 way off. DO NOT take the caps off there is springs in there and they may fly out . and tighten back up the screws .now you should see the metering rods and the pistons now start it up and see if the metering rods are all the way down i use a small screw driver to check this on the pistons when running by touching them to make sure they are down at idle if not you need to go to a lighter springs. and you can run it up to make shure they are not sticking and they should go up when the vacuum drops . for jetting and tuning them in they are very good to work on. the edebrock book tells you how to do the set up on them and has the chart for the jets and metering rods and the set up springs.

Very good info, Pat !!! A well tuned Edelbrock works great on the street. As Pat said, follow Edelbrock's procedures and they should run great.
