Carb Cleaning...

What do you guys use to clean heavy carbon out of your carbs? I have a Holley 650 dp which has alot of carbon on the inside of the secondary area. This would be with the carb off the car, disassembled doing a rebuild.

When no police is around pour some used brake fluid in to the carb (slowly) when running the engine at 2,000 rpm. Carb looks like new - all carbon removed.

Soak it in carb cleaner, available at any auto parts store in a 5 gal. can with a basket to put the parts in. Keep the can sealed up tight and it will last a long time.

my 1 gallon can lasted me on 4 seperate carb rebuilds... so I'm sure a 5 gallon would last quite a while.... and its much better for your carb than brake fluid.... even tho brake fluid does work.... i prefer not to put foreign substances in my cylinders.... think of what kind of ring wash brake fluid could cause??? doesn't sound too good to me

Brake fliud is much the same chemical soup as antifreeze, and we all know what that does to rings and pistons. Don't do it!
If you have carbon in the throats of your Holley, its overdue for a full rebuild anyway. Are you sure its not oil from the crankcase breather? In which case its more than the carb that needs rebuilding.
Carbon can only get there from backfiring.
