    Probably dirt or other foreign debris in the fuel system. I know you don't want to hear this, but on a car this age, I would start by dropping the tank and cleaning it out thoroughly, then replace all the non-metallic lines and all filters.

    A large radiator repair shop can boil it out for you. If there's still rust in it after that, a 50-50 mix of swimming pool acid and water sloshed around in it will cut the rust.
