Oops, I forgot to refresh before I posted again. The cap I just put is brand new. I cant imagine it having a crack. If there were a crack is there any specefic place I would look for it ?

I've got the same timing problem so I just need someone to tell me if I've got this right. 1)Remove #1 plug, wait for compression TDC. 2)Manually crank motor (clockwise?) up to TDC on the timing tab. 3)Remove dist. cap, rotor should be pointing close to #1 wire. 4)Replace cap and plug, turn enging over. 5)Bring distributor around until the motor runs the best, but then bump it back just a hair, and then the timing should be correct? What are the possiblities of the timing chain throwing the timing off?
