a question an the squish
i've heard several peaple speaking of the squish area. know correct me please if i'm wrong and i'm sure i am but tossing the piston farther up the bore would in my mind increase the compression and isn't compression a low octane nightmare? i guess i fell off the wagon somewhere someone please throw me back on.even a good thing can be made better

Aside from affording a more homogeneous mixture to the plug the quench area in the cylinder also cools the mixture a little bit as it gets close to some water.
Another example of "Quench" would be EGR.
