Quench and squish are different. Squish is the area that isn't quenching, if that makes any sense to you. A tight fitting dome filling a combustion chamber with the same clearance everywhere would be a total quench chamber. Any thing else would have a squish area. I guess another way to look at it would be to consider squish the lowest pressure area in the chamber as the piston is moving towards TDC.
