alternator problems
i had recentally put in some hooker headers in my 73 duster and after i have gotten everything back together, the alternator wont charge the battery, any suggestions would be great for what to check for , is the alternator junk or what should i do

sounds like to me youve left some wires loose somewhere, if the alt was charging when you started with the headers. go back over what you did and check everything . did you have to pull the motor ? you probably jacked the motor up and pulled some wires loose.Originally posted by klem0813

ground wire?Did that screw just fall down into the motor?

i took the alternator to get checked and i was dead as a doorknob! does anyone no what could have caused this, becuase it worked just fine before i took it off??its got dual floor mats and a hopped up cigarette lighter

yeah i disconnected the battery firstits got dual floor mats and a hopped up cigarette lighter

could be just a bad part they do go bad I was always told manufactures don't make thing that don't break if they do they go back and redesign it so it will unfortunately that the way they make there moneydrive it like ya stole it

You probably jaared something lose when you were pulling the motor. It happens. However, before you get a new one, make sure you have it tested at another store. Some places can be a little unscrupulousRight engine, Wrong Wheels
