a question an the squish
i've heard several peaple speaking of the squish area. know correct me please if i'm wrong and i'm sure i am but tossing the piston farther up the bore would in my mind increase the compression and isn't compression a low octane nightmare? i guess i fell off the wagon somewhere someone please throw me back on.even a good thing can be made better
never get angery because you lost be grateful you were able to try

Quench and squish are different. Squish is the area that isn't quenching, if that makes any sense to you. A tight fitting dome filling a combustion chamber with the same clearance everywhere would be a total quench chamber. Any thing else would have a squish area. I guess another way to look at it would be to consider squish the lowest pressure area in the chamber as the piston is moving towards TDC.Originally posted by techinspector1
I don't know if I'm correct or not, but I use the words squish and quench interchangably.
Aside from affording a more homogeneous mixture to the plug the quench area in the cylinder also cools the mixture a little bit as it gets close to some water.
Another example of "Quench" would be EGR.
Hope this helps.

Thanks guys! It's been a long road. Fun doing finishing work for sure. Getting the dash ready for paint and some interior trim. Have to do some finish work on the aluminum headliner before...
