Nothing wrong with the Buick 455. Have you checked out the Buick Performance Group? Pay a visit to www.v8buick.com.
I just put a pair of really nice aluminum Stage1 heads on my Buick 455 block. A few different companies make them now, but I prefer the work done by TA Performance. These TA heads are almost visually identical to the heavy stock heads...on the outside. Completetly re-designed on the inside, nice flow numbers out-of-the-box, and small chambers on the heads
One of the digs on the Buick 455 is the two bolt mains. Well, with a higher nickel content in the Buick block, I'd argue that the metal itself is stronger than other division's with the exception of Caddy, and there are sub 12 second GS455, 4000 pound convertibles owned by club members using stock blocks, no girdles. A twin turbo Buick 455...now that would be a killer engineBuick newbie since 1989
