carb
I am almost finished with my 396 but I now am stuck on what carb to use. The engine is 40 over with 10:1 compresson and it has the 292h comp cams kit and i just had the heads reubuilt. I am running shrtie headers and a performer intake. Any recommendations. This car will be like a weekend driver .

Ok, i think i can tell you what streets will say. Predator! then some guys will say holley, some will say edelbrock, and you may even get the occasional Q-jet. However, due to the high compression, the large size and the fact that its not going to be a daily driver, I personally would reccomend a Holley 750Right engine, Wrong Wheels

would that be a double pumper. By the way my brother has a 327 with 461 heads and he is running a 750 edelbrock and it runs great. good little motor. why is it that little motor runs good with a big carb

Must have it leaned way out and have small jets. Edelbrocks are notoriously forgiving carbs.Right engine, Wrong Wheels

JEQ, the cam that your using is a real lumpy upper RPM cam, & the intake is good to about 5500. So Im not sure how much RPM you intend to see with it. Any Idea ?75 GMC C-15 factory 454, automatic, lowered

I dont really want to go past 5500 rpm because i dont want to risk blowing all the money Ive spent right away.

if your stayin within 5500 RPMs, a 670 Holley Street Avenger is plenty. John75 GMC C-15 factory 454, automatic, lowered
