I am pleased to learn Al had a Sprite since I have had the "underpowered" feeling that maybe I wasted a lot of years messing around with two MG Midgets (1973, 1970). Anyway the bodyman who restored my '73 Midget from a car with a tree in the middle to a 90% restored car told me he had a Sprite with a Weber carb on the little 4 cyl and when about to be ticketed for speeding the officer offered him the option of documenting the top speed of the Sprite sort of as a data point for the officer and so he ran it wide open and was supposedly clocked at over 110 mph on a flat straight road! It makes a good story anyway, but the Sprites and Midgets were raced and my only experience was with the strange Solex side draft carbs that came stock so I never got to the stage of a Weber carb, but surely the Weber is better than the Solex!
