    Post Olds 455 Rocket????

OK GUYS I KNOW IM A BIT OF A PAIN INNA BUTTE...

BUT I JUST CAME ACROSS A 1972 OLDS DELTA 88 WITH A 455 ROCKET IN IT. AS I LOOKED THE 2DRHARDTOP OVER, I OPENED THE HOOD SITTING ON TOP OF THE BIG BLOCK IS A SINGLE BARREL CARB???? THE QUESTION I HAVE IS WHY DOES THIS LOOK SO OUT OF PLACE AND IS THERE ANY REASON FOR IT..

THE WIFE WANTS ME TO PICK THIS BEAST UP FOR A ROD PROJECT FOR HER IT RUNS, IDLES REAL NICE PUT SOME RPM'S TO IT, THE CAR'S BODY JUST SHAKES FROM SIDE TO SIDE LIKE IT WANT'S TO JUST MOVE....ANY IDEAS ON 455'S I HAVE HEARD OF THEM BUT IT'S THE FIRST ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN WITH MY OWN EYES.. SHOULD I JUST BUY IT FOR THE RUNNING GEAR AND PUT IT INTO SOMTHING ELSE???? IT SEEMS STOCK EXCEPT FOR THE CARB..

(ITS WHAT I CALL AGREEK TRAGEDY SINGLE BARREL CARBS BELONG ON LIKE LAWN RACERS OR SOMETHING)

KEEP IN MIND IM IN NORTHERN CANADA SO I GET ABOUT 2 MONTHS OF RODDING TIME!!!IT GETS COLD AND FAST AROUND HERE!!! HEHEHEHE:)

Ain't no way it's a single barrel. Two barrel, yes but not a single barrel.

I agree with fordman. There is no way that i know of that a single barrel carb would bolt onto the 455 intake. Take a closer look at it and you may find its a dualjet. A few of the older models looked like one barrels. As for the motor, Take it! The 72 Deltas were nice cars, and if its clean enough I would restore it. The 455 in it could be made a screamer with a head change and a 4 barrel intake.

(So you are right drg84 i have never seen a two barrel) like that but as for the advice, thanks guys the wife and i trailered her new baby home and its in the shop as for i have been going over the car all day,but i find myself feeling guilty as sin, the car is in really could shape minus the dent in the front bumper very little cancer except for the rear wheel wells and some bubbleing here and there, all we paid for the car was $750.00 cdn... when i can get the pics back i took of it i will post them the color is what kills me it's a factory green same as the interior but it should be done enough for her to drive it by spring i think..(HOPE... OR I WONT HERE THE END OF IT).

P.S. anybody have any ideas on a good place to start shopping for a new color interior for this old girl, the wife is in love with the color BLUE the whole car is going blue in the end..when i do the frame off everything is going to be changed i think and if she aint happy well no one in the house is happy if ya know what i mean... hehhehehe

For Interior you might want to try the Original Parts Group. those guys are pretty good. You have an awesome project that you can make scream. I made a '70 98 run 12.70's with just nitrous and slicks, this was a four door car though and a little bit heavier than the 2 door. with the right motor combo she'll be fast.

nothing cooler than a really fast big car! That 455 will make some brutal torque with little effort!
