I need some help in identifying my small block chevy engine. I was told that it came from a 1968 corvette, but I believe that I may have been mis-informed. I have found and verified the following numbers:

Engine block casting number: GM 3782870
Block casting date code: D285
Partial vin/engine assembly suffix code: 15854 4 F0503HD

I have not verified the head numbers, but they are camel hump heads.

It appears to me, from the data I have seen, that the engine is a 327 high performance model cast and assembled in 1965. The data I have seen does not
indicate the specific horsepower, but does indicate a range of 250-350 HP. The
data also does not seem to indicate what model/type of chevy that it was produced for, only "full size"is indicated. If I have deciphered the codes correctly, the 327
block was cast on April 28 1965. The engine was assembled at the Flint Michigan
plant on May 3, 1965 . It was a high performance engine coupled with a powerglide transmission, installed in a full size model chevy.

Does anyone have any additional information that might indicate what the actual horsepower rating or car model may have been? It is a great little small block
and I am just trying to put some pieces of the puzzle together.
Thanks!
