    What to do poll

Ok, while block sanding I get just way too much time to think!!!! Thinking about the engine/drivetrain for the 'maro. I guess what I'm wondering is what do you guys think would be best for resale---The 'maro done and sold will be the $$$$$ for some of the goodies for the '57. I do have some options and seeing as how I'm not a Bowtie guy I thought I'd see what you guys thought might be best.

Dave I would look at the amount of work and $ it's it's going to take to put any of the combinations in. From that aspect I think the 350/350 probably makes the most sense.

I also think the 454/400 might end up limiting your pool of buyers a bit, and the LS may eat a lot of time getting everything in and dialed in and running right.

All in all the 350/350 combo will probably draw a bit less money but you have less in it and it will probably sell the quickest.

I think the 350/350 would be the best deal as well. You will have a lot more buyers available for that combination because there will be less in it so your price for the car will reflect that. The 454 would come off work you have done so that would be a trade off, but I personally would consider the gas expense before buying it. I like to drive my cars which means I need to afford the gas. With the Ls1, it might be hard to get your money back.

Hard to say which is "best", but it's going to be hard to justify the cost of that LS-1 package I would think. The $3500 in labor you traded for the BBC has some lower "cost" to you - your break-even cost compared to your billing rate, but then you traded something of value for the 350/350 combo. The 350/350 will be easier to finish, and offers the most opportunity for more power/torque down the road without too much added cost; where the 454/400 is going to require more deep pocket work to build. From a selling standpoint (return on investment) you'd probably do best by adding a little "bling" to the 350 for eye appeal, and advertise the potential.

AND NOW ------------anytime from today on if your working on a driver---go the LS route----------parts are available--mounts/headers, not only horsepower/torque but economy------you did say driver????????we are seeing much more interest in the late engines than any of the early small blocks probably on a 5 - 1 ratio, the big blocks for any earlier cars(not race cars) is sliding toward 396s with the CORRECT casting numbers--(heavyassheads)

the Dart Big blocks ( stroker big bore) are still a big part of our business but for the street crowd, the LS---however $6500 is kind of high for LS!--when LS3s are out there maybe cheaper-------

350/350 would probably have the most "curb appeal". I think it would be the "safer choice" for a wider audience. imho, ymmv, fwiw, yada yada yada...

Dave--another benefit to the LS group of engines--all the thingies on the front of the engine--water pump, power steering pump, a/c, are driven by a compact system with a serpentine belt--on the other choices it will take over $2K just to do that-----and as you search out options--don't forget all the 5.3 group in the pick ups/ suv

That's for the engine, transmission, ECM, and wiring harness for installing it in a Hot Rod---I've put a couple in for other guys from the same source, takes about 8 wires to hook the whole thing up!!! It also comes with alternator, power steering pump, and A/C compressor, so it saves a bunch on the accessories like you said!

The 350/350 combo is nothing new just another "belly button" motor, it will bring more $$$ with the LS1
