Nothing new there that is going to make a flat tappet cam live.... Doesn't really matter how well the cam and lifters are broke in, don't think the present day oil will support them. Hydraulic rollers just aren't that much more money.

Most of the engine builders I know won't even build an engine with a flat tappet cam anymore....they're the engine experts and I tend to go with their recomendations....

Then again, I would suppose it depends on the level of performance you're after... With the stuff I like to run I'll go with rollers everytime, maybe something in the 300 hp level with low lifts and low spring pressures would live, but if all a guy wants is 300 horse might as well go with a crate engine and the big warranty....
