    302 Ford heads

Does anyone know if you can use 67 289 heads on a 89 roller 302 motor???
I know you can do it with a non roller 302, just not sure about the roller motor
    with those closed chamber heads!!!
    Thanks Kurt

You can, but there would be no gain from using them unless you do some port work and install larger valves and unshroud the chambers, you would gain some compression. You would have to measure for pushrods to work with the roller cam block.By the time you spend the $$ for the custom pushrods and the machine work you would be better off with a good set of GT-40's or check out www.fordmuscle.com for info on porting your '89 heads. For real info on Ford heads do a whole bunch of reading on www.sbftech.com

Hey Jeff; I just was not sure if they would work because of a differant angle or something And thats what I am looking for is more compression and HP.
They are not for high perfomance but more to give me more grunt when pulling a trailer thru the Nevada mountains. I know where there are two set of the 67 289 heads for a good price and they already have screw in studs and guide plates. Not sure if the roller motors have harden push rods or not, so I may still need to buy some.
I am not really looking for bigger valves like I said just a little mor grunt power on long climes. Thanks Kurt
