Why was the head reworked? Had it previously ran hot???

all of them or some of them? were there any busted off EX bolts in the heads did they fix them? sounds like they drill and tap thru the jackets or some one used to long of a EX bolts and busted thru in to the jackets ? any case it a ez fix clean the threads good you could try a hi heat sealer on the bolts or run short set screws down the ex bolt holes and use a welding rod to check the depth of threads and make sure the bolts do not bottom up on the set screws you need to use sealer on set screws that should stop itIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

had to have 3 bolts that were broke removed and since there was 150,000 miles on it went ahead and had them rework the head since i had the other side done last year----and it is only 1 bolt hole that did this and then used the exact same size bolt as the original ordered them from dealership....monday i am calling the machine shop that did the job since i paid out 406.00

Actually those engines run super hot EGT ,thats why 80 percent of them have that failure, the manifolds warp and snap the bolts off........I have one that has done the exact same thing 3 times.......Pat has you covered, the solution is that they tap the hole deeper into the water jacket, you now need sealant on that bolt .
A permanent cure is to use headers so the manifolds wont warp and snap the bolts, very common problem with these engines and the after markett manifolds warp way worse than factory iron. Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

Just put some sealant on the leaking bolt as Pat suggested.... Probably drilled into the water jacket getting the broken bolt out. not a big dealYesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

probably not worth taking the head back off just to have them fix it.... I'd call them like Pat said, maybe they'll spring for a plug and the sealant or something.... Got to admit I've had to fix a few of mine the same way.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Happy Veterans Day everybody and thanks to those who served. It’s 4AM here so I’m waiting for the sun to come up to put the flags out. For the last few years I’ve been flying 3 on Memorial Day...
