429 heads
Hello , I'm changing the heads on my 460 to a set of 1970 dove-c
429 heads . I already have 9:1 flat top pistons . Does anyone have any
idea what they will change the compression ratio to . Also I'd like
to know if its possible to machine the heads for larger valves .
Thanks for any help ,
Bill

I don't know why you need bigger valves. They're good sized as they are.
My guess would be it's 9 to 1.A Ranchero is NOT an El Camino

Thanks , the cost would outweight the benefits I'm sure anyway .

Bigger valves usually hurt the flow ,unless porting is also done. Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

The two-barrel 429's in Lincolns had those heads with flat-tops and had 8.5 comp., the four-barrel engines had pop-up pistons and 10.5 CR, so yours should be a little over 9:1.
