As is typical of Ford flatheads of that era, the enemy is corrosion and whatever thermal cycles it's been subjected to. Cracks are very common, particularly cylinder bore to valve seat, and valve seat to valve seat. After disassembly have the block checked by a very knowledgable machinist who's had flathead experience, sonic and mag check are mandatory! Don't spend a dime, or euro I guess, on parts before you know the block is sound. Lots of parts from V8 60s interchange so in Europe there may be a source from Simca folks.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
