    Not much to go on there....A picture would help... Is it rich at idle or while driving... as for the vacuum, there are two sources on the carb, one ported and one full. The full vacuum is the port below the throttle blades, the ported is above the throttle blades... I would connect the vacuum advance off the distributor to the full vacuum port (the lower one) on the carb.

    What kind of car, what engine, what is your timing at, etc????

    The vacuum line to the transmission is usually connected to a vacuum port on the intake manifold, if you are running a PCV valve, it can go to the intake manifold also, or to the base of the carb on the back side...if it has a port there....

    For rich at idle, adjust the idle mixture screws.. On your holley, they are on either side of the metering block (the piece between the float bowl and the carb body) start with the turned out 1 1/2 turns, then adjust for the maximum vacuum (if you have a vacuum gage), or til the engine is idleing smoothly.....

    You can go online to Holley at;

    http://www.holley.com/TechService/

    In there you can look up the carb model you have and get the install/tuning directions. That should help out a lot.

    My first response was,"get used to it" but that isn't very nice. I find most of the Holleys I have run to be rather high maintenance. I have one on my 390 and after about 8-9 months it started flooding over due to the needle valve. I pulled it out and cleaned it so i could get going again and ordered a new one that the local franchise nailed me $22 for.
    I had one on my 66 442 and had to put new gaskets in every time it sat for more than a month.

    Thanks for the help I think Ive got it about tuned in now but, I also think its time for a hei distributor. As for willowbilly Ive got one on my 440 in my motor home that I only start once every few months at best and Ive had no problems with it.
