    Hillborn EFI question

     



    I'm working on this Dearborn Deuce that has a 327 with Hillborn EFI, and I want to find a better computer for it than the Carbine unit that came with the kit.

    The carbine system uses only a TPS, a coolant temp sensor and a tach signal to control the injectors. It allows you to change settings manually using potientiometers, but the settings are in 1000 rpm increments which doesn't allow for fine tuning. The Carbine's main selling point is that it does not require a PC to program it, but the tradeoff is lack of precision. The engine builder tuned the system on a chassis dyno, but it always seems to run way rich - it burns your eyes more than it burns rubber.

    I realize that the architecture of the Hillborn intake isn't going to allow for intake air temp sensors, or idle air control systems, but I'd like to find a computer that utilizes a MAP sensor and O2 sensors to help trim the fuel mixture and operate as a closed-loop system.

    There are several EFI computers available from MSD, Megasquirt, and a few other manufacturers. I've done a great deal of reading on their websites, so much that it makes my brain hurt. So, I'm looking for advice from anyone who may have knowlege or experience in the area of aftermarket fuel injection systems.

    The owner of this car also has a pair of 401 Buick engines being built for other projects that will also have this same induction system.

    Any info or advice (other than to use a different intake - that's not an option) would be greatly appreciated.
