Actually, now reading my post to you, I told you to pull off the wrong wire. The one on the right of the big post is the trigger for the solenoid. When you turn the key to start, the power flows to it and kicks the starter. The one on the left goes to the coil + and provides a solid 12 volts to the coil to start the car quicker. Then when you release the key to the run position current flows through the resistor and a lower voltage runs the car.

Not sure what taking that left one off did.
