I think it would be better to get in there and move stuff to correct the problem rather than bandaiding it. The reason I say that is if they did something like that, who knows what else they might have Mickey Moused up.

I would see what angle the engine is sitting on and see if it can be moved somehow to get it to clear better. You can even move an engine sideways a couple of inches to gain clearance and it is still ok.
