Question about engine with a small carb?

We started up a engine which is a 350 bored .30 over and 74 cc heads dish pistons . It has a comp cams economy cam dont know the specs but can get them and a edelbrock Performer spreadbore intake. It also has a MSD ignition and 2.5 pipes with flow masters. So I think its a Mild build. BUT, it also has a tea cup carb Could the carb cause it to stumble at a certain RPM? It seems to idle and run good up to "about" 2000-3000 RPM. Then it stumbles and can not go any higher...... I am thinking it something to do with the dist. not the carb

Be leery of the chains store rebuilt carbs. I have bought two, and returned two. (They wouldn't run right or adjust) I finally taught myself how to rebuild my own, and it's MUCH cheaper that way. kinda fun too.
