I have a 69 Caddy with the same engine. I bought it from one of my brothers. Before I got it he had new rings and bearings installed. The mechanic did it without removing the engine. So there must be a way to remove the pan without pulling the engine out. I think if you unbolt the mounts and lift the engine it should come apart.
