turbo and superchargers
I'm familar with superchargers on how they work but turbo chargers are something I've never played with. I know a tubrocharger is a exhaust gas driven forced induction system and was wondering do you have to run a low compression say of 7:1-8.5:1 as using a supercharger, or can you run a higher compression with a turbo
-
no about the same you can run a bit more cr just has alot to do with your boost

...and don't let those turbo guys tell you there's no Parasitic loss with a turbo. Back pressure on the exhaust is Parasitic loss, even though it's not mechanical like a blower belt it still takes power to make power.
-
well, there is deffinetly a little parasitic loss, but not as much as a S/C, like 5%,. Turbos have better street manors cause they only spool when you want them to. downfall is, most turbo's have lag to some degree.
-
Yeah but the turbo's don't have that whine. :3dSMILE: :3dSMILE: And they don't strike fear in their opponents like an exposed blown big V8.  (unless the opponent has one too!):HMMM:

I've got a buddy with a twin turbo twin intercooled 383 making around 1000HP. Now, not knowing the big HP number, that engine bay will strike fear in you if you know anything at all about turbos. But I will say I love my blower whine and wouldn't change that for a turbo. Both have there place. One other note, with todays electronics and different turbo desings there isn't much lag anymore when properly sized for the application.

I have seen a 350 twin turbo run out pretty good.....Your right they sure don't strike much fear by their sound, his sounds very mild but when he spools up on the line it screams off the line. He even runs mufflers to create some extra back pressure I guess. Only downside I saw was if you don't get to the line first your screwed, if you get your yellow lights and your second on the line you don't have enough time to get spooled up to launch. Everything i have seen turbo'd has been small block stuff, Is it because there better to turbo than big blocks? Seems small blocks have turbos and the big blocks stick to SC.
