Hey bro, that sounds like a problem I had also. This may or may be not the prob.. ok so my truck would run great at idle like yours. but when I started going, it ran like crap. poppin. etc.
So I went through all the possible things that could be wrong. but still couldnt figure it out. Timing was right on. At idle it ran great. So I seeked advice of a buddy of mine ben. hes a hotrodder/mechanic, and he said, hit it down the road let me listen to it. so i did. came back, he said, I know whats wrong with it. YOUR FUEL FILTER is plugged! thats what he told me, so I figured, hey Ill give it a try. changed it out, and now yes, it runs like a million bucks.
The reason it would idle perfect, was at low RPM the motor doesnt need a lot of fuel to keep the nice idle. But get on it, and it needs much more, and the plugged filter just cant output enough fuel.
Well, I definately hope this helps you out. give it a try
