Well the 84 Bird is finally running again, and pretty damn good. Had a couple part failures, the rotor on the msd streetfire hei used some cheap ass plastic hold down for the contactor instead of a screw like every other one. It decintegrated 3 minutes into break in. The alternator took a shit on teh first trip around the block after it broke in. Then I go to check my oil and find out it ate my dipstick, a good 2 inches of the bottom gone! Changed the oil immediately after break in, then fished for an hour or so with magnets and what not to find it, with no luck. Thats the only worry I have now, is the metal pieces being ground up, filter should catch almsot all of it, everythign was spotless while building, so it shouldnt make it to the bearings. Now i gotta deal with the tranny, the stock 700r isnt shifting the greatest, unless u consider 2-4 solid seconds to shift lol. The headers are garbage, I dont suggest anybody settle for hedman's because of their price. Took way to much dimpling and clearancing, not to mention the colector design and craftsmanship is that of a 4 year olds doodling. Havent takin it over 4500 yet, have about 80 gallons of gas so far, everythign going smooth. Had a bad problem throwing the alternator belt, which tehn threw the power steering, used a straight edge and got alignments down, everythigns good with that. Everything is going good so far, and im very happy, just hope the dipstick thing dont cause big trouble, hasnt yet. Now i gotta find a good deal on a th350 and converter, shifter too. Just thought id let you guys know.
