sounds more like a gauge/resistor problem. Do any of your other gauges go nuts? I had an 85 Mustang GT many years ago that the gas gauge and oil pressure gauge would go nuts in and it turned out to be a voltage drop problem. Had a resistor or what ever that dropped the voltage from twelve to 9 volts that went bad once in a while. Since Ford has owned Mazda for many years and they use a lot systems in common, this might be your problem. The voltage drop system wouldn't go bad until the vehicle was warmed up and the alternator was easing off letting the battery provide most of the power. Hate to see you tear apart a motor that doesn't need to be torn down.Last edited by Oldf100fordman; 01-04-2006 at 11:46 PM.
