283's are great motors. i bored mine .30 over [i think that comes out to 302ci correct me if im wrong] i put on 461 double hump heads off of a old '65 327 that i have. and a comp cam. with an old style edelbrock torquer intake and a 600cfm holley 4160 and all of this is i my 1973 porsche 914. this thing moves and that motor sounds great and winds up real tight. it was the first motor i built and was a great learning experience everyone should start with a chevy! now i have a ford that im working on and i realize why so many people build chevy's because parts are cheap! anyway congrats Scooter

Hey Scooter, isn't a Biscayne the same body style as an Impala??? If it is, you could find the doors and door posts off a 2 door hardtop, convert your wagon to a 2 door. Add the straight axle, fenderwell headers, instant nostalgia gasser you've been wanting!!!!!!!
