    Chevy Engine Build Codes

Does anyone know of a reference for chevy engine build codes?
Like Corvette L48 - where do I find detailed component information?

    Thanks - Bert

They are called RPO Codes or RPO Numbers

    Actually, they are letter/number combos.

In the old days, a car would come down the line with stickers on the windshield. Each sticker indicated some item that was to be installed on the car.

Do a GOOGLE search for RPO Codes and you will find a lot of info...specific sites for Camaros, Corvettes, etc.

Note that if a RPO code is used, it is across the entire GM line. For instance, if RPO Code "DUH" is a power tissue dispenser on a Corvette, it is also a power tissue dispenser on a Vega.

    OK - I found -

    code years option
    L48 77 80 ENGINE, 350 C.I.D. V8 (350)

    and

    Z28 Special Performance Package 20,302 $458.15

Is that all ya get, or is there more specific info to be found like cam, carb etc.

I saw a L79 thread that talked about 3/8 fuel line more as part of that package - so I thought there would be more to it.

    I'm a gonna keep looking.

    Thanks - Bert

Here is some cam information off of a camaro restoration website I found:

    Shows all L48 from 1970 to 1973 as having cam part# 3896930 - .390/.410 lift, 310/320 (280/288) duration
