    Thanks for the info, those both read really nice!

    I'd hate to have to yank the 305 out of the truck for a 350 if I can just get by with a head job and a new manifold for now then get the cam and the headers later.

    This is a second toy truck and will only haul stuff on an extremely rare basis and just a couch or tv or something at that.

    my best advice is the same as everyone at this point, bud ditch the 305 and find a 350 even think crate engine maybe, thats what i am doing my self with a 77 fleetside..

    I have to agree; you can get a Goodwrench 350 brand new, not rebuilt, for about $1300.00 with 260 horsepower and a 3 year 36,000 mile warrenty straight from GM. You cant even do a basic rebuild for that anymore once you figure in machine work, plus a good warrenty is a nice plus.
