    '86 351 Should I buy

My friend is offering me a '86 351 that is currently in a '86 E-250 Ford utility van that sits in his dads/ his junkyard. The van has somthing like 70k on it but has major rust/ frame problems and was junked about 3 months ago. Is this a good deal, the engine runs and is only $50? I would ither put this in my Falcon if I did not have to seperate or notch the towers, or I'd save it for my next project which would ither be a model T or a Gen 1 Mustang.

    NOPE

    Don't buy it.

Instead, give me the name and phone number of the jerk who wants to sell you one of the better motors Ford ever made for 50 whole dollars.

I wanna have a word with him....

(not to be insulting, but I can't believe you even asked this question)

I have to wait for them to get the crushers out of the yard, there a weird junkyard, 10 years or older stays but 10 years or newer, gets crushed, compleatly backwards than any other yard but for the better. The only thing they do crush that is 10 years or older are stray blocks and stuff like that. Be a nice motor to put in somthing.

It's worth $50 as a core, much less any of the extras you get with it. Intake, exhaust, accesories. I'd buy it just to have for that.

A town where people have lots of cars that are ten years or older, there are a couple of people who drive classics year round, 1 guy has a '68 Nova 4dr, that's where he got his 250 engine. Most of the time, he'll sell the good engines ( like the 351 ), pull it out of the vehicle load it on the buyers vehicle and then put a tag on the junk vehicle it to have it crushed when the crushers come in, he has no storage facility for engines and stuff so, the cars are the parts best protection, the new cars, he dosn't bother with even for engines because nobody ever bothered buying parts for the newer cars off him so he gave up housing them. often, the old cars are actully what they drive, like the guys wreacker, it's a '65 C-20 with a wreacker body that someone could not get running, he put a condensor in it right whail the guy who brought it there was watching, fired it up and then asked for the registration so he could use it for the yard. They don't crush any classics ither, and they have a few.

a friend put one in a 65 mustang . it seems like it was a bit close to the shock towers but no trimming and he had a 4 barrel, which was too close to the hook, Think i like hood scoops anyway.
